WHAT MY MENTEES SAY

Here’s what a few coaches I have mentoring in the past say:
I had been coaching senior executives for over a decade and had the privilege of being mentor-coached by Benita Stafford-Smith for my MCC journey. The impact of this mentor-coaching was profound on my coach journey. Benita has a straightforward and deeply wise approach to mentoring an experienced coach.

Nonna Babitzin, ICF MCC, Finland

I can 100% recommend Benita as a mentor, having worked with her towards my MCC.  As a mentor, Benita brings her deep wisdom and vast experience of coaching in organizations to the table.  She is also extremely encouraging and constructive in her feedback.

WHAT TO EXPECT OF YOUR MENTOR

"ICF defines Mentor Coaching as providing professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency demanded by the desired credential level sought by a coach‐applicant (mentee).

Furthermore, Mentor Coaching means an applicant (mentee) being coached on their coaching skills rather than coaching on practice building, life balance, or other topics unrelated to the development of an applicant’s
coaching skill."

What does it mean to be a MCC coach?

"ICF strongly believes that clients receive real and substantive value from MCC Coaches. That value rests always in the coach’s complete attention to the client and what the client wishes to accomplish, the complete level of partnership with the client, as well as the coach’s complete support of the client’s agenda."

Among the hallmarks of MCC-level coaching is the fluidity and artistry with which a coach engages in a coaching conversation.

MENTOR COACHING REQUIREMENTS

"Candidates on the MCC Portfolio application path must document at least 10 hours of Mentor Coaching on their application. Mentor Coaching hours submitted with an MCC Credential application cannot be the same Mentor Coaching hours applied toward a previous application for the ACC or PCC Credential. Candidates on the Level 3 application path completed Mentor Coaching as part of their Level 3 coaching education program.

The Mentor Coaching hours must occur over a three-month period or longer. Of the 10 hours of mentoring, three hours must be one-on-one. The remaining seven hours may be one-on-one or in a group.

For the MCC Credential, the Mentor Coach must be a current ICF Credential-holder in good standing at the MCC level."
